Attorney General Christian Porter Responds to Australias response to the “Fact not Fiction”

The Attorney General Christian Porter has responded to the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia’s response to the “Fact not Fiction” article which featured in The Australian in August 2018.

Clarifying the recent focus on the family court system in Australia, the Attorney General’s memorandum addresses concerns raised by Family Court Judges following the release of the statistical performance of the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia.

The Attorney General’s response detailed the outcomes of the review by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and states that further efficiency is required in both Courts to ensure better outcomes for families.

Ultimately, the Government proposes further reviews of the Court systems with an end goal to create a combined Family Court and Federal Circuit Court that would provide a single entry point for family law matters.
